No more Soggy Twist Outs

Have you ever twisted your hair in preparation for a twist out, only to take down damp hair that frizzes up instantly?

Generally, a twist-out using styling foam can be dried in as little as an hour underneath a hooded drier. Twist Outs styled with creams and gels and allowed to air dry can take up to two days to dry!

Scared to Use Heat to Dry A Twist Out?…Read This

I set my hair under a hooded dryer 6 to 10 times a month. My Hair is THRIVING!

In addition to the heat speeding up the setting process, I get a smoother shiner finish and a stronger finish when I use heat. It speeds things up, so I don’t feel trapped in the house or forced to wear a beanie until my twist out dries completely.

I personally have not experienced heat damage from routinely using a hooded dryer. The heat from a hooded dryer, bonnet dryer, or even a diffuser is highly unlikely to cause heat damage.

I’ve been using a hooded dryer every 3 to 5 days for 6 months with absolutely no signs of heat damage. I use the highest heat, and the highest speed to get the job done.

There are Zero signs of heat damage, my curls are intact, and my hairstylist (who specializes in curly cuts ) says the condition of my hair is improving.

My Favorite Tools for a Fast Drying Twist Out

Mousse DefA very concentrated strong hold styling Foam with conditioning agents built in. Can be used alone but I like to use it with a very lightweight leave-in
Alikay Lemongrass Leave-inThis is a lightweight aloe-based leave-in. I apply a little bit under mousse def.
Bonnet Dryer AttachmentI used this until I purchased a hooded dryer. This one is larger than most bonnet attachments, also more expensive. I used to use it for roller sets as well so it was worth it to me.
Hooded Dryer My go-to, I use it about twice a week for at least 15 to 20 minutes. I don’t have this exact one, but it is very similar

For Quick Drying Twist Outs Avoid this Ingredient

Avoid Glycerin high up in the ingredients, especially if you plan to air dry your hair. Glycerin takes FOREVER to dry. I tried using a glycerin-based leave-in under mousse def and it was an epic fail. Glycerin keeps pulling moisture from the environment, which is beautiful for wash and gos, but for twist-outs, it keeps the hair from setting in the shape of the twist.
