WASH DAY
Wash Day is the foundation of Great Natural Hair Days. These are some of my favorite wash day items that make my Wash Day a Breeze
Hair Treatments
I have videos on my Youtube channel with details about how I use bond repair and hard water treatments.
Bond Repair – Olaplex 3
There are alot of bond builders on the market. I still use Olaplex about once every two weeks. Once a month when I am feeling a little lazy. I’ve found that using Olaplex helps to reduce single strand knots between trims. So it has been apart of my routine since 2021.
I use Olaplex 3, it is available on Amazon. Sephora normally has deals on a larger sized bottle around black Friday.
Hard Water
I do have hardwater in my area. I combat it with a water filter and a hard water treatment every few months.
The hardwater treatment I use is by Malibu and available on amazon.
Shampoo: The Most Important Part of Wash Day
My hair does well with wash days every 3-5 days. It is important to choose the right shampoo to get the job done.
Oyin Honey Shampoo
Oyin is the shampoo I use most often. I find it cleans the hair without completely stripping it. It is perfect for a midweek reset, or a second shampoo after a stronger shampoo.
Trepadora Goji Berry Mint
I use this about once every 2 to 3 washes. This shampoo is stronger than Oyin but also does not completely strip the hair . I normally follow it up with Oyin.
Malibu Undo Goo
This is one of the strongest shampoo. I use this about once every 6 to 8 shampoos.
Kinky Curly Come Clean
This shampoo is the other strong shampoo in my routine, I use it about once Every 6 to 8 shampoos. I typically choose this one or malibu undoo goo
Conditioners/Deep Conditioners
Oyin Honey Hemp is the conditioner I use most often. The liters from Oyin’s website are a great value. Oyin is also available on amazon.

Trepadora Quinoa repair
I cocktail this with the Oyin Honey Hemp when for an extra boost.
WOAH and Sweetest Thing by the Doux
These are moisture masks, that work well with styling foams from the Doux.
AS I Am Hydration Elation
I use this when my hair needs and extra boost before going into flat twists, twists outs or a rod set.
Camille Rose Algae Renew
I use this when my hair needs and extra boost before going into flat twists, twists outs or a rod set.
Stylers
Styling gets a little complicated, I have used a lot of stylers over the years, let’s just talk about a few of my favs. More videos with different combos available on my Youtube channel. A few years ago I started following iamblackgirlcurls on Instagram, they are a great resource for learning more about choosing products.
Leave-ins
I prefer light weight leave-ins that don’t interfere too much with my styling products.

Base Gels
So Base Gels are a concept I got from Black Girl Curls. They are humectant base gels that lay a good foundation for wash and gos. For more information about base gels follow, I am black girl curls
Uncle Funky Daughter’s Curly Magic
Humectant base gel, great foundation for a wash and go
Mielle coil sculpting custard
Thicker than curly magic, but a good base that dries faster and doesn’t pull quite as much humidity.
Topper Gels
Topper gels are stronger hold gels, I pair them with the botanical gels for a little weight and extra hold.
Bee Girl Curl Custard
Bee girl has a strong hold and puts up with everything I have thrown at it. I’ve used it with botanical gels, leave ins, and in a pinch I’ve used it alone.
Trepadora Bamboo Ginseng Glaze
This was used at my salon visit. Tried and true topper gel with consistent results
Styling Foams
I typically use styling foams for twist outs and rod sets. I do use leave-ins under foams.
Mousse Def
Available at Target, Sally’s, Walmart, and on the doux’s website.
