Is this a New Holy Grail? First Impressions Trepadora Acai Berry Fix Gel

Trepadora Acai Berry Gel is the newest gel from Trepadora…and to be honest I was skeptical. My favorite topper gel is definitely Bamboo Ginseng Glaze by Trepadora. It has a beautiful shine and gives an amazing gel cast. Bamboo Ginseng Glaze keeps my curls in order, especially during the humid summers in New Jersey. I used an older version of the Acai Berry fix gel and don’t remember it having much hold, so I was unsure if this newer version of Trepadora’s Acai Berry Fix gel would work for me, but I decided to give it a try since I had some on hand.

I was also nervous because it was advertised as a protein rich gel with clay…in my head that translated to instant crunchy hair. Fortunately that is not how things turned out.

Acai Berry Fix Application and Fragrance

I always use Trepadora Gel’s with a base gel like Uncle Funky Daughter’s (UFD) Curly Magic. I’m sure Trepadora’s gels perform excellent on their own…However, they are pricey so I like to pair them with some easily accessible gels. So that is how I started the Acai Berry Fix Application, on soaking wet hair with some UFD curly magic.

The Acai Berry gel is nice and creamy. The texture is closer to Trepadora Papaya Slip than it is to Bamboo Ginseng Glaze. The fragrance is amazing! I really do love the scent of all Trepadora Gels. The Trepadora Acai Berry Fix fragrance is a little fruity but still Fresh, like many of Trepadora’s products I find the fragrance enjoyable without being overpowering.

With my Hair loaded up with UFD Curly Magic and water, I distributed the Trepadora Acai Berry fix over my hair in medium sections (I sectioned my hair in 6 sections using my Crown Control Styling Clips). I added more of the Acai Berry Fix Gel as needed as I worked through each of the 6 sections. It was easy to apply the hold was definitely there, but it wasn’t too sticky.

I was expecting Acai Berry Fix to have less hold than Papaya Slip, but I was really shocked by the dry time and results.

Acai Berry Fix Drying and Results

Normally when gels are described as flexible or medium hold they take forever to dry! But not this time. I did my typical routine which is to sit under a hooded dryer for 20 minutes to form a cast…and let it air dry the rest of the way. I set my hair in the afternoon and by bedtime it was completely dry! Normally with medium flexible hold gels I have to diffuse some more before bed. I was pleasantly surprised that my hair was dried from root to tip.

I’ve tried the Acai Berry Fix gel when Trepadora previously released it. It wasn’t my favorite because it didn’t have much hold, but this gel formed a nice touchable cast. I loved the results. It’s a perfect styler for winter time for me. I find it has a little more hold than Trepadora’s Papaya Slip, but it is not as firm as Trepadora’s Bamboo Ginseng Glaze. I do want to try it with Trepadora’s Bamboo Ginseng Mousse to see if I get a little more volume. Trepadora Acai Berry Fix will definitely be in rotation this winter/spring.
