Is Beyonce’s new haircare Cécred for Natural Hair?

Beyonce recently released a new haircare collection Cécred. I always have mixed feelings about celebrity haircare collections. Excited to support someone I’ve enjoyed watching on the big screen, but can someone with access to top tier hair stylist truly create a haircare line for us mere mortals? As a natural who wears mostly wash and go’s here’s why I didn’t rush out and buy it … yet.

As of right now Beyonce’s Cécred collection there are the following products :

  • Hydrating shampoo
  • Clarifying shampoo
  • Deep conditioner
  • Reconstructing Treatment Mask
  • Fermented Rice & Rose Protein Ritual
  • Nourishing Oil
  • Sealing Lotion

The collection contains foundational haircare which is great, but who is the IDEAL customer for this collection? Is this collection meant to be a great setup for a protective style or wig install? Is this collection meant to be the perfect setup for a blow out or a silk press? Is this for the relaxed girlie? I’ve browsed Cécred’s website and I couldn’t figure it out. There are a lot of beautiful products in the collection, but I’m not sure where they would fit in in my haircare routine.

I like collections that target a specific result. The Doux released a collection called Press Play for naturals who want to blow out or press their hair. I saw it in target on Christmas Eve and picked up the ENTIRE collection. In celebrity haircare land, Pattern Beauty by Tracee Ellis Ross is one of the most popular celebrity lines. It is clear Pattern is for people who rock their natural curls and it was easy for the curly girlies to get excited about.

Cécred feels like a collection for “everybody”. As a wash and go natural …. gels, foams, and styling creams are what get me excited about a new collection. There are none of those yet in this new Beyonce collection. As a Beyonce fan, I will likely try something from the collection eventually, but as a natural girly the collection didn’t strike me as a must have or a new holy grail. Waiting for a few more reviews to see which product/products I may choose to indulge in.
