I used 5 Bottles of Olaplex on My Natural Hair did it work?

I wasn’t suffering from Heat Damage, I had not used any chemical treatments (relaxers, texlaxers etc.) , my hair was not color-treated, but I was suffering from breakage. My hair was breaking off as quickly as it grew despite no obvious damage or medical damage.

I decided to give Olaplex 0 and Olaplex 3 a try because after researching the products I decided the worse case scenario would be it did nothing for my hair. It did not appear the product could further damage my hair.

What is Olaplex and Why I use it on my Natural Hair?

Olaplex is a brand that uses a patented bond repair ingredient in their hair care products. Olaplex products are popular for those with chemically treated hair, but I also find it beneficaly for my natural hair.. I use Olaplex 3 routinely as part of my natural hair care routine, because some of the DIYs I have done in the past have damaged my hair. Olaplex 3 is a pre shampoo treatment.

I have also used the bonding oil from Olaplex in preparation for a blowout. Olaplex also has a shampoo, a conditioner, and a deep condtioner that contain the bond repairing ingredient, but I have not tried them yet.

Where did I buy Olaplex?

I first purchased Olaplex from Sephora because I had a promo code on Instacart and was able to have it dropped off at my front door for less than what I would pay in store!

How I Apply Olaplex 0 and Olaplex 3 to my Natural Hair

If I am using Olaplex 0 and Olaplex 3 together I apply the treatment before I shampoo.

  • Apply Olaplex 0 and allow to sit for 10 minutes
  • Apply Olaplex 3 and allow to sit for 30 minutes or longer.

If I am using Olaplex 3 alone:

  • Gentle Shampoo in the sink
  • Apply Olaplex 3 to towel-dried hair
  • Detangle with Olaplex 3 in hair
  • Shampoo
  • Condition
  • Style

Recently I have been using only Olaplex 3 alone because it is easier for me to squeeze into my schedule. According to the instruction you can use Olaplex 3 alone. You cannot use Olaplex 0 alone you MUST follow it up with Olaplex 3. Using Olaplex 3 saves me a little time and money.

How long does Olaplex Last?

Remember when I said I had virgin hair? Technically I do, but my cuticle is comprimised. After visiting a stylist I learned that Henna and clay have comprimised my cuticle making it high porisity, and prone to tangles and knots.

The benefits of Olaplex 3 last about one week for me. My hair is less tangled and knotted when I use Olaplex 3 once a week. I get about 3 at least 3 uses out of a 3.3oz bottle of Olaplex 3. I have short-medium length , high density, tightly coiled hair.

I have every intention of using Olaplex once a week, but life happens and sometimes it is two weeks between olaplex 3 treatments, so a bottle of olaplex lasts about one month for me. I try not to go more than two weeks between Olaplex treatments, when I do I notice an uptick in tangles and knots
